Impact & Partnership Development Manager- Kernow Sat Programme Manager University of Exeter

University of Exeter has a Memorandum of Understanding with Spaceport Cornwall, which aims to be the UK’s first satellite launch site. The first commercial satellite launch planned for July 2022.  In addition to the launch activities, Spaceport Cornwall is committed to developing and promoting a programme of space related activities with relevance and impact to the region, and the wider community and country.

The vision for the Kernow Sat is to engage the community in the development and implementation of satellite projects to address local challenges, issues and needs by bringing space down to earth, and down to Cornwall. The objectives are to increase people’s awareness of the use, value, importance, and reliance of satellite systems; to engage, promote and stimulate regional space and engineering related education and employment; and to design, build and operate space-based systems locally, which address local needs, and benefit the local communities.  The Programme aims to inspire future generations to remain and work in Cornwall in engineering, technology, and space related fields.

The first step in the Kernow Sat Programme, is Kernow Sat 1, a small satellite system focussed on marine environmental monitoring applications. The aim with this mission is to design, build and operate a space satellite providing a framework for community participation and outreach.  Future satellite missions will build from this increasing capability, skills, engagement, and value to the Cornish economy.

The Impact and Partnership Development Manager, Kernow Sat Programme, will manage the Kernow Sat Programme, connecting University of Exeter researchers and other external collaborators to the opportunities and aims of the Programme. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with outstanding project management, relationship building and communication skills who can provide the bridge between the University, Spaceport Cornwall and wider stakeholders.
