This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our rapidly expanding satellite communications company.

We seek a confident and capable person who is keen to jump in and help colleagues wherever needed. We are looking for candidates who are good team players, willing to be flexible and partake in different areas of work, as required.
The successful candidate will take a proactive and creative approach to contribute to on-going projects whilst being able to work under their own initiative.

The role is based at Goonhilly Earth Station in Helston, Cornwall.

  • Provide professional and timely advice, guidance and support to the Senior Leadership Team and Managers on employment legislation and current HR best practice. This can include, but is not limited to, maternity, paternity, sickness, grievance, disciplinary, flexible working, redundancy, conduct, capability, recruitment.
  • Attend meetings of the Senior Leadership Team, when required, to contribute to wider
    discussions concerning Goonhilly’s people management strategy.
  • Maintain, review, and contribute to the further development of Goonhilly’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are complied with and that managers understand their roles and responsibilities. Provide training in this where necessary.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with Goonhilly’s Employment Law Advisors and ensure that appropriate advice is sought routinely.
  • Oversee and manage the recruitment and selection process from advert to appointment.
    Ensure all pre-employment checks are complied with and issue appointment letters and contracts of employment.
  • Regularly report on the findings from the completed Equal Opportunities Monitoring
    Consult with senior managers to identify what action should be taken to ensure no one group is underrepresented.
  • Oversee and manage Goonhilly’s on-boarding and probation processes including
    monitoring and reporting on completion rates to senior managers.
  • Oversee and manage Goonhilly’s performance reviews / appraisal system including
    monitoring and reporting on completion rates to senior managers.
  • Manage the process for the monitoring of sickness and other absences and provide
    regular absence reports to senior managers.
  • Continually review the benefits offered to staff; identify and promote new benefits that will ensure Goonhilly remains an attractive place to work.
  • Develop and maintain the HR data base and intranet page.
  • Ensure effective construction and management of the HR budget.
  • Contribute to the design and organisation of training days.
  • Keep abreast of salaries being offered locally and within similar industries and ensure
    Goonhilly remains competitive and retains its staff.
  • Engage in appropriate continuous professional development and keep abreast of
    legislative changes and developments in HR and employment legislation.
  • To undertake tasks as reasonably requested by senior management.
