Now & Then Ltd named Tourism & Leisure Start Up of the Year at South West Finals

Tuesday night, 28th June, Bristol.

Mike Robinson, CEO and Founder of Now & Then Ltd has scooped up the award for Tourism & Leisure Start Up of the year, at the StartUp Awards National Series.

The StartUp awards ceremony debuted this year to highlight the dynamic start-up scene across the country that skyrocketed during the pandemic, and Cornwall’s exponential growth in start-ups in the data and space sectors reflects this trend.

Now & Then provides tools for attractions, museums, and places of interest to easily create guided tours uniquely tailored to each user, using pre-existing or new content.  This mobile application will trigger via GPS or Bluetooth when near historical places of interest.

The app will offer a more cost-effective and sustainable solution as it utilises visitor’s own phones, instead of relying on exhibition hardware and audio devices that continually require maintenance, charging and replacement at large costs.   The app will also act as a vehicle to help attractions and places of interest stay Covid safe, which is crucial as we emerge from the pandemic.

Mike Robinson, Founder & CEO of Now & Then said, “Winning the National start-up awards for tourism and leisure 2022 is a huge honour.  A substantial amount of hard work and preparation has gone in to creating Now & Then LTD, we have overcome many hurdles and are now finally in a position to launch the new App.  We are in talks with large tourism attractions, councils and influencers with regards to creating exciting new tours which will enable people to connect to history and society. The future is bright for Now & Then, this is only the beginning”.

The final was held at the Propyard in Bristol and saw twenty different awards given out to new businesses in categories such as Digital StartUp of the Year, Green StartUp of the Year and the Online StartUp of the Year.

Now & Then’s award comes at an interesting time for the data and space clusters in Cornwall. The region is gaining a reputation for being an excellent place to start and grow a business – particularly in the space industry.   With funding and business support packages on offer, Cornwall Space Cluster celebrates entrepreneurs and businesses who use satellite data for Good.
